Their Baptist roots go back to the 19th century, and they endured extreme hardship and persecution throughout the 20th. Father Valeriy (2nd row, 2nd on right) spent five years with his father (a pastor) in a Siberian labor camp for the "counter-revolutionary" crime of believing in God and refusing to be re-educated.
This was during the time that Soviet dictator Nikita Kruschev boasted that he would banish the last Christian in the Soviet Union to Siberia, and broadcast that event when it happened. Thanks be to God, Kruschev failed miserably, as demonstrated by the faithful Puzanovs, all of whom are involved in orphan ministry and demonstrating daily what it means to "Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God."
Valeriy works 6-7 days a week on the church-owned farm that provides for 30 orphans. With his own hands, he built the orphanage, church and seminary.

Mama Ludmilla passing on the tradition
This was a night we will cherish forever
Anatoly is the youngest family member and hilarious. He does Elvis impersonations, sings in the church choir and is an excellent graphic designer who has done some fine work for adoptive families.
Daughter Tania has college degrees from Ukraine and Mississippi! She speaks fluent English and teaches at Orphanage #4.
One of the fringe benefits of the international adoption experience is meeting, and getting to know fine people like Alyona and Slava, our interpreter and driver. We have quickly come to adore this hard working young couple, and are humbled to have experienced the amazing hospitality of this wonderful family.
May God continue to pour out his blessings upon them all.

I can't wait to meet these wonderful people! Ask Tania where she went to school; My husband Robert is from Mississippi! Thank you for giving us a glimpse into what we can look forward to!
